The President, Gambia Transport Union (GTU), Omar Ceesay maintained that nothing has changed in their proposed sit-down strike saying, ‘we are going to paralyse the system on Monday’.
“God wish on Monday (tomorrow), we will hold our strike. I have already informed all the drivers to stay at home and let them not even go to the garage. We are going to paralyzed the System on Monday,” he said
He made these remarks while speaking to a local radio, Star Fm Radio on Saturday.
Ceesay apologised to Gambians any inconvenience their action may cause them, but said it’s part of the job.
“We are saying sorry to evey Gambian, but it’s part of the job,” he said.
The Gambia Transport Union has proposed an indefinite sit-down effective tomorrow, until their demands are met.
The demands include reducing the cost of fuel; the price of toll fee at the Senegambia Bridge; ‘expensive’ mandatory fines on the roads; among others.
