The Opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) announced that they raised six million, one hundred and twenty Dalasis at a fundraiser held in Seattle, United States, on Saturday, September 28th, 2024.

“We were able to raise $90,000, which is equal to Six Million one hundred and twenty Dalasis. We thank you all for your contribution,” the Seattle chapter auditor, Lamin Juwara, told the gathering in Seattle last Saturday.

Prominent figures at the fundraiser included the Secretary General and Party Leader of the UDP, Lawyer, Ousainu Darboe, Mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council, Talib Bensouda, Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe of Banjul, and UDP Diaspora Chairman Mboge Saidykhan, among others.

Addressing his supporters, the Secretary General and Party Leader, Ousainu Darboe, expressed gratitude to the party’s Seattle chapter and urged young members to refrain from attacking the party’s young leaders.”Members of the United Democratic Party, particularly in the Diaspora that are free media Key boards. Any adverse posting against Rohey Malick is an adverse posting against the United Democratic Party. Any negative posting against Talib Bensouda is a negative posting against the United Democratic Party. Can’t you see that? We cannot allow our party to be destroyed,” Darboe told his supporters in a gathering where he paid tribute to his party’s late hero Solo Sandeng.

Mayor Talib Bensouda, who also serves as the Organizing Secretary of the UDP, added, “I thank the UDP militants in Seattle because they have the most powerful UDP chapter in the world, and they have shown that here today.”

Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe of Banjul City Council also thanked the UDP supporters in Seattle and called for unity within the party.

“When Ebrima Dibba released that audio, I told them I would never respond because he’s a brother to my husband. I will never respond. Some places are no-go areas for me. I want to tell Ebrima today that I love him so much. I also want to tell Talib Bensouda that if it were up to me alone, he would have no enemies. I can swear to that, and you know what I am saying. I was among those who campaigned for you at Kanifing Estate when it was difficult. I am not saying I made you mayor, but I contributed. So please tell people who believe I am your enemy that I am not,” Lowe said.
