The United Democratic Party (UDP) has announced that it will begin its nationwide tour on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

The tour was originally scheduled to start on Thursday, November 28, 2024, but the Office of the Inspector-General of Police requested a postponement due to resource constraints. According to the police, a significant number of officers were deployed to provide security for President Barrow’s ongoing “Meet the People” tour, leaving limited personnel available for other engagements.
“The tour will cover the entire length and breadth of the country, with rallies in all regions. Issues of national importance will be discussed.

“This will be the first tour of H. E. ANM Ousainou Darboe since December 2021,” the UDP stated.

The party emphasized that the primary goal of the tour is to engage with Gambians, offering reassurance about the nation’s future and the UDP’s commitment to addressing pressing challenges. They pledged to work alongside citizens to tackle the country’s hardships and the rising cost of living, which they attribute to the “incompetence” of President Barrow and his policies.

“Together with them, salvage our country from the hardship and cost of living crisis brought about by the incompetence of President Barrow and his policies.”
