Karamo Njie, the Public Relations Officer for the United Democratic Party (UDP) in the North Bank Region, has called on Dr. Ismaila Ceesay to cease misleading Gambians regarding the Draft Constitution.

“I heard Dr. Ceesay blaming the UDP for aspects of the Draft Constitution, but did he forget the statement made by Majanko Samusa? They voted against a constitution that the entire country supported. I urge Dr. Ceesay to stop misleading President Adama Barrow, who will one day be a former president. Stop focusing solely on your own interests and those of the president—let’s prioritize The Gambia first,” Karamo Njie told Kerr Fatou.

Njie stated that the entire country is aware it was the National People’s Party (NPP) National Assembly Members who rejected the constitution, which cost Gambians D116 million.

“So why mislead people? You cannot use the UDP to make people love Barrow—Gambians have already had enough of him. You cannot clean up his image. Dr. Ceesay is simply trying to mislead Gambians, but everyone knows that Barrow has failed. He has damaged the country with rampant corruption. But should we be surprised? This is the same Dr. Ceesay who once said Barrow is clueless,” the UDP North Bank PRO stated.

Njie further stipulated that the Draft Constitution is not about the UDP but about the entire nation, which is why almost all Gambians have condemned the amendments made by the cabinet.

“Who are you fooling? As the UDP, we will maintain our stance, which aligns with that of every genuine Gambian. If any changes are made to the constitution, we will reject them. How can you decide for the whole country? We will not accept it. The UDP is not a party that can be crushed like the Citizens’ Alliance to serve an individual’s interests. We know all your plans, but we will never allow them to succeed. Both you and the Justice Minister have let us down, and I don’t think you should have anything to say to the UDP because we are the reason you are a minister today,” he concluded.
