The United Democratic Party [UDP] has lost its legal battle against Sheriffo Sonko, Chairman of Brikama Area Council.

Chairman Sonko was voted under the UDP ticket in April 2017. But the party expelled him last year for what they described as his loyalty to President Barrow instead of the party.
UDP subsequently filed a case against him to vacate the chairmanship of the council.
However, the Supreme Court earlier today ruled that he [Sheriffo] cannot lose his seat as the Chairman of Brikama Area Council [BAC]. Sonko will now stay at BAC Chairman, until the 2022 Chairmanship election.
