Two Gambian Lawmakers Sworn-in As New ECOWAS Parliament Members

National Assembly members, Honourable Alhagie S. Darboe and Billay G Tunkara have been sworn-in as new members of the ECOWAS parliament for The Gambia.
Hon Darboe is the member for Brikama North for the United Democratic Party (UDP); and Billay G Tunkara is the member for Kantora for the National People’s Party (NPP).
Tunkara doubles as the Majority leader, while Darboe is the Minority leader in the Sixth Legislature lasting until 2027.
The two have joined 3 other members representing The Gambia at the regional parliament in Abuja, Nigeria since 2017. The other three members representing the Gambia are Hon. Fatoumatta Touma Njai, member for Banjul South under Independent ticket; Hon. Samba Jallow, member for Niamina Dankunku for the National Reconciliation Party; and Hon. Kebba K. Barrow, member for Kombo South for the United Democratic Party.
The swearing-in of the new members of the ECOWAS parliament took place at the regional parliament in Abuja, Nigeria on Thursday.
