Former presidential candidate Alieu Sowe has confirmed to Kerr Fatou that an armed robbery in Cheedy Wolof, Upper Badibou District, left two children injured. According to Sowe, the robbers fired gunshots before escaping with a large sum of money.

“The armed robbers arrived at 3:25 a.m. and targeted a shop owned by a Mauritanian man. They held us hostage inside my house and remained here for over thirty minutes, continuously firing shots. About ten minutes after they left, soldiers arrived. The robbers broke into the shop and made away with a substantial amount of money. Two children were injured during the attack and have been taken to Farafenni Hospital,” Sowe told Kerr Fatou.

This marks the second armed robbery in Cheedy Wolof, Upper Badibou District. In 2024, the same Mauritanian shopkeeper was wounded during a similar attack, in which the perpetrators also fled with a large sum of money.
