Trust Bank has on Monday kicked off their annual donations to healthcare facilities across The Gambia, beginning with Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Hospital in Salagi with a donation of materials worth two hundred and fifty thousand Dalasis (D250,000).
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the donation included essential supplies such as rice, a wheelbarrow, electrical materials, a refrigerator, detergents, and buckets, among others, aimed at improving the hospital’s capacity to provide care for individuals battling mental health challenges.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Omar Mboob, Deputy Managing Director of Trust Bank, praised the critical role Tanka Tanka plays as a sanctuary for individuals with mental health conditions. He emphasized the Bank’s commitment to supporting the hospital’s efforts to offer a path to recovery for its patients.“By providing the necessary care, treatment and resources, you are ensuring that these individuals have the chance to regain their dignity and rebuild their lives. Through this partnership, we hope to continue making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it the most. This year, we are pleased to contribute a total of D250,000 to support the vital work being done here. We have worked closely with your team to identify the most pressing needs, ensuring that this donation is meaningful and impactful,” the Trust Bank Deputy Managing Director Omar Mboob said.
Bakary Camara, the Matron of Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Hospital, expressed gratitude to Trust Bank for its unwavering support, noting how the donations have consistently helped improve the hospital’s services over the years.“On behalf of the entire staff and the patients of Tanka Tanka Psychiatric unit, I extend our sincere appreciation for your unweaving support and dedication to improving the quality of care we provide to those who rely on us for mental health services. I acknowledge, since 2009 Trust Bank has been a pillar of strength to our facility. Your commitment to Tanka Tanka was beyond the simple act of donation. It is a reflection of your deep understanding of the critical unit that mental health care plays in our communities,” he said.
The Deputy Medical Director at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, Dr. Cherno Jallow urged other Gambian companies to emulate Trust Bank’s exemplary commitment to giving back to society.“We are very delighted when Trust Bank said that they want to continue to partner with us, and then they have a contribution to make, and then they now gave us something that’s worth D250,000. In no way, that amount is small. From listening to the matron and then Mr. Mboob himself, we all know that this is something that we need. Trust Bank is passionate about helping us, partnering with us, if you talk about psychiatry in mental health. It is because none of us are immune to it. Anybody can be a victim. So if anybody is coming up to support, to uplift that activity. It’s something that must be encouraged,” he said.
Trust Bank’s partnership with Tanka Tanka dates back to 2009. Over the years, the Bank has donated millions of dalasis worth of items to the hospital to ease its operational challenges and enhance the effectiveness of its services.
