Gambia’s Minister of Works, Transport, and Infrastructure, Ebrima Sillah, withdrew four motions he had presented to lawmakers for the ratification of road safety conventions on Tuesday.
The conventions were the African Road Safety Charter, the UN Road Safety Convention on Road Traffic 1968, the UN Road Safety Convention on Road Signs & Signals 1968, and the UN Road Safety Convention on European Agreement for the International Carriages of Dangerous Goods by Road 1957.
Hon. Sillah withdrew the motions, explaining that they were not signed by the AU mission.
“Honourable Speaker, we want to regrettably move this motion that we realize that the bills that we have brought here for ratification they have not signed by the Mission in AU and the ratification will precede the signature So we want to seek the indulgence of the National Assembly to withdraw the various motions, and they will be signed immediately, and then we will bring them back to the National Assembly,” he told the Lawmaker
The House adjourned for the day until Wednesday, September 20, 2023, after four motions were withdrawn from the order paper.
