The Young Writers Association of The Gambia (YWAG) has noted with grave concern the attempted coup d’état in the Republic of the Gambia by elements of the Gambia Armed Forces. The Young Writers Association of The Gambia condemned what appears to be an attempted military coup d’état in Gambia and call for democratic rule.
We believe that violence and any extra-constitutional measures would only erode the Gambia’s prospects for peace, stability and prosperity. These actions could limit the ability of our progress as a nation and other forms of support from other international partners as it navigates a path toward national unity and a brighter future for the Gambian people.
We call on the Gambia government to also address ways to curb unconstitutional military activities and politically motivated conflicts across the country.
