The Goat Debate: ST Says He Supported Most of The ‘Kids’ Rapping Right Now
By Buba Gagigo
Sanna Singateh, known by his stage name ST, has claimed to be the “Gambia music goat” (greatest of all time). He also stated that he has supported many of the young rappers who are currently active in the Gambia.
“I don’t think. I know (that I am the goat). These (rappers) are not my generation and I think everybody can attest to that. Most of these kids rapping right now I supported them. I contributed to their careers even before they are known by people. Maybe, before, people know me and don’t know them and now people know me and know them. Is yesterday that makes someone today. 90 percent of the people I started music with are not doing music now but I have been consistent throughout my generation and now this generation also. I am not the only one saying I am the Greatest of all time but everybody is saying it too,” ST told Agies Corner on Thursday.
The Brikama-born artist also denied having a feud with Attack during the interview.
“I don’t have beef with anyone and for me, the last thing will be to have a problem with any Gambian artiste because I know my position and Gambian music needs a lot. I think coming together as one is better than all of these issues.”
ST declined to answer questions about his material wealth status and denied being a woman abuser. He also denied dating famous MC Fanta Ceesay but confirmed that he dated female artist Sofia Bass a long time ago.
“Fanta Ceesay is like a sister to me,” he said. “You know, my mother’s name is Fanta, and we all come from Janjangbureh. As for Sofia Bass, yes, we dated, but that was eight years ago when we were all young.”
