The Gambia Police Force Prosecute Three Individual For Theft

Banjul, The Gambia – November 13, 2024
The Gambia Police Force has successfully prosecuted three individuals for the theft of six outdoor air conditioning units, copper pipes, and related offenses, following an investigation referenced in an earlier release dated September 27, 2024.
The individuals namely Sulayman Barrow, Alasana Camara, and Lamin Jatta were found guilty by the Magistrate Court in Banjul and sentenced as follows:
Sulayman Barrow and Alasana Camara
Count 1: Fined D7,000 each or, in default, two years and three months of hard labor.
Count 2: Nine months of hard labor, with no option of a fine, to be served consecutively.
Lamin Jatta
Count 1: One year of imprisonment with no option of a fine.
Count 2: An additional one-year imprisonment term, also without the option of a fine.
The Gambia Police Force strongly condemns these criminal acts and warns business owners against knowingly purchasing and reselling stolen materials. Such actions promote criminality and threaten the integrity of critical national infrastructure.
