The Gambia Government Updates On Works Suspension Within Kotu Mini Layout
Press Release Dated: 20th December, 2023
Following the recent suspension and subsequent thorough review of development activities within the Kotu Institutional Layout, The Gambia Government announces that several of those affected have been cleared by the Ministry of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs to resume work.
However, continuance of development activities is strictly subject to conditions that all such developments within the Layout are for institutional purposes only.
The decision for resumption of work was reached after submissions by allottees and a thorough review of documentations regarding all allocations. The review process ensured that all future developments were in conformity with established rules and procedures for allocation as well as efficiency in our land administration system.
Therefore, all allottees are reminded that any violation of the terms of allocation will result to the initiation of a re-entry process by the Lands Ministry.
In the interim, the Ministry of Lands is finalizing on the review of the Bertil Harding Highway and Kotu Layout. The Gambia Government wishes to assure all concerned parties affected by the suspension as well as the public of its determination to ensure that land allocation is utilized and sustained equitably and justly in the public interest.
