The Gambia Government Charges Two Civilians And Police Officer With Concealment of Treason And Felony Conspiracy

In the wake of the recently foiled coup plot to unseat the democratically-elected Government of President Adama Barrow, investigators have linked two men, Mr. Mustapha Jabbi, a resident of Brikama and Mr. Saikuba Jabbi, resident of Brusubi, both in the West Coast Region and a Police Officer, Sub Inspector Fakebba Jawara of The Gambia Police Force assigned to Abuko Police Station, to the foiled scheme.
The suspects were arrested on Friday, 30th December 2022 and arraigned before the Banjul Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday, 3rd January 2023 and charged with concealment of treason and conspiracy to commit a felony. All three (3) are now remanded at the Mile II State Central Prisons.
Investigations into the alleged coup plot are continuing and members of the public would be accordingly informed of any further developments.
