Arrested Cannabis

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG) has reported the arrest of a 17-year-old alleged child offender (ACO) in Kunkujang. The teenager was apprehended with three parcels and five wraps of suspected cannabis sativa on the evening of August 30, 2024, around 8:00 PM GMT.
“A 17-year-old Alleged Child Offender (ACO) was arrested at Kunkujang on the 30th of August 2024 around 20:00 hours GMT onwards with three (3) parcels and five (5) wraps of suspected cannabis sativa,” DLEAG said.
According to DLEAG, their operatives also carried out a sting operation that led to the arrest of two adult males and one adult female Gambian national, who were found in possession of over 6,000 ecstasy pills, also known as Gaw-Gaw.
“24 years old Sainabou Jarju of Bundung, 26 years old Babucarr Jallow of Kerr Sering, and 30 years old Muhammed Faal of Bundung were clutched on the 31st of August 2024 around 15:00 hours GMT onwards with six thousand five and eighteen (6518) pills of ecstasy at Mariama Kunda Junction and Bundung, respectively. Nine hundred and ninety (999) pills were seized at Mariama Kunda junction while the remaining five thousand five hundred and nineteen (5519) pills were seized at Bundung,” DLEAG said.
This recent operation follows a series of significant drug seizures, including the confiscation of 11 blocks of cocaine from a Bissau-Guinean national at the Giboro border post on August 29, 332 ecstasy pills from two Senegalese nationals at the Amdalai border post on August 25, and 100 ecstasy pills from a Gambian national in Latrikunda.
In a related but separate incident, DLEAG announced the arrest of 27-year-old Sarjo Njie at Bundung Central on August 29, 2024, around 11:16 PM GMT. He was found with 19 pills of suspected ecstasy and 17 pieces of suspected hashish (cannabis resin).
“55-year-old Baba Sohna was arrested at Tipa Garage on the 28th of August 2024 around 18:50 hours GMT onwards with forty (40) wraps of suspected kush. 25-year-old Marcus Moussa Gueye, an American National residing in New York was arrested at Banjul Ferry Terminal on the 30th of August 2024 around 17:30 hours GMT onwards with some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa,” DLEAG announced.
The agency also mentioned the arrest of 55-year-old Ebrima Sowe at the Mandinaba checkpoint on August 31, 2024, around 11:20 AM GMT. He was found with five parcels of suspected cannabis sativa. Another arrest involved 44-year-old Lasouk Diouf, a Senegalese national residing in Dakar, who was detained at Jenoi Checkpoint in the Lower River Region on September 1, 2024, around 9:45 AM GMT with one bundle and 50 parcels of suspected cannabis sativa.
“46-year-old Badou Sallah was arrested at the beachside around Banjul Ferry Terminal on the 1st of September 2024 around 16:40 hours GMT onwards with three (3) small plastics and some quantities of suspected cannabis skunk.
“27-year-old Ebrima Ceesay was arrested at Tennis Bar in Basse Upper River Region on the 1st of September 2024 around 11:40 hours GMT onwards with seventeen (17) wraps of suspected cannabis sativa,” DLEAG added.
All suspects are currently in custody as investigations into their respective cases continue.
