The managing director of the Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation has been sent on an administrative leave by the finance ministry on advice of the task force established to probe the crisis at the state institution.

The spokesperson of the government, Ebrima Sankareh, told Kerr Fatou that the decision was made to give investigators time to probe the institution’s recent crisis.

Sankareh said both Momodou Camara and Mohammed Manjang have been sent on an administrative leave to give investigators time to probe the crisis.

The task force which is led by Momodou Samateh, the chairperson of the public service commission, was inaugurated on Wednesday and it is to report its findings to the presidency in a month time.

Sources said the outcome of the investigation will determined how the government will handle the situation.

About three third of SSHFC staff have signed a petition against Mohammed Manjang, accusing him of  mismanagement, an accusation he denies. The problem that has been raging for six months came to its peak when protesting staff on Monday lock down the office complex of the institution denying other staff access.

Meanwhile, a senior member of the institution, Momodou Camara who is the representative of the staff at the board, has been suspended last week.

Camara is the leader of the team that has been protesting at the SSHFC.
