Sabally Intends To Run In April Parliamentary Election
A former Secretary General and Head of Civil Service and strong United Democratic Party supporter, Momodou Sabally has made his intention public that he wants to contest in the 9th April parliamentary elections under UDP ticket.
Sabally, who is confident of victory, if endorsed by the UDP, wants to run for the parliamentary seat of the Busumbala Constituency currently occupied by expelled UDP parliamentarian, Saikouba Jarjou.
“I have formally submitted a letter of intent to our relevant party officials in my bid to stand for the UDP in the upcoming National Assembly Election for the powerhouse, Busumbala Constituency. If selected by my party, I hope to pull off a landslide victory (inshaa Allah) and serve to attain, among other purposes: protection and promotion of the sovereignty of the republic; improvement of the welfare of the residents of Busumbala Constituency; fight for responsible and responsive fiscal policy so that our taxpayers get their money’s worth in deliverables; promulgation and promotion of real youth and women’s empowerment legislature; supporting environmental protection and cultural authenticity…,” he wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday morning.
Sabally held the positions of the Secretary General and Head of Civil Service, Director General of the national broadcaster, among others, under former President Yahya Jammeh, before they fell-out in 2016.
