Rohey Malick Lowe Receives African Woman of the Year Award in Kenya

Rohey Malick Lowe, Mayor of Banjul City Council (BCC), received the African Woman of the Year 2024 award on Friday in Nairobi, Kenya.
“I am deeply honoured and profoundly grateful to receive the African Woman of the Year 2024 Award in Nairobi, Kenya. I accept this recognition on behalf of the people of Banjul in particular and The Gambia in general,” said Mayor Lowe.
Mayor Lowe also extended her heartfelt thanks to the organizers of the Voice Business Summit and Achievers Award for this remarkable honor.
“To Jali Madi, your performance was so outstanding and you are amazing. To Her Excellencies Dr. Ida Odinga and Governor Wavinya Ndeti Oduwole of Machakos, congratulations for the well deserved Award. To Aminata Jarju of Amina’s fashion, I am really short of words to express my appreciation to you for nominating me and tirelessly defending my nomination for seven good months. Thank you so much. We have done it,” she said.
Rohey Malick Lowe serves as the Mayor of Banjul City Council and is the president of The Network of Local Women Elected in Africa (REFELA).
