The Secretary General and leader of Gambia Jama Party has joined NPP and transformed his party into a fan club.

Ebrima Sorrie Bah told Kerr Fatou, after reconciling with President Barrow following a fallout that led to the formation of his party last month.

“My family members and that of the president which is spearheaded by certain advisers and NPP executive [members] in the person of Honourable Saikou Mballow, Lamin Saidy and Momodou Barry. We have reached an agreement as a result. We have dropped the party [Gambia Jama Party] and reconciled. It’s not an alliance with NPP, but we have transformed that [Gambia Jama Party] into Ebrima Sorreh Bah fan club for NPP,” Ebrima Sorrie Bah.

Ebrima Sorrie Bah, Secretary General of Gambia for Five Years and Peace Building group last month confirmed to Kerr Fatou the forming of a political party called Gambia Jamaa Party (GJP).

Prior to this development, Ebrima was an active member of ‘The Gambia For Five Years’ group, which is widely regarded as pro-government, set up to counter the ‘3 Years Jotna’ group which demanded President Barrow to keep his transitional promise and step down at the end of three years’ promise he made during the Coalition 2016 campaign.

Although the group has been seen as political by many, they always maintained being apolitical, but were motivated to defend the five-year constitutional mandate of the president.

However, Bah’s move to join the NPP and transformed his party to a fan club, gives his critics more grounds to maintain that ‘The Gambia For Five Years’ group is formed to sympathise with President Barrow.
