President Barrow Receives PM Ousman Sonko On A Courtesy Call

President Barrow conveyed his salutations to his counterpart, President Basiru Diomaye Faye of the Republic of Senegal, through Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, who called on him at the State House on Friday afternoon.
During the audience with his guest, President Barrow called on the officials of Senegal and The Gambia to work towards strengthening the historic ties between the two countries and sustain the achievements towards integration. He emphasised the uniqueness of the relationship between the two countries based on shared values, cultures and languages. He added that our shared values could be solidified through integration. “We should be the shining examples for African integration and Pan Africanism by working to ease movements at our border communities.”
Prime Minister Sonko was in the country to attend the Senegambia Commission Summit, and The Gambia- Senegal Economic, Trade and Investment Forum.
The forum aims to foster connections to enhance cooperation and strengthen trade partnerships between the two nations, aligned with The Gambia’s strategic vision for investment and economic diversification.
Speaking to the press, Prime Minister Sonko underscored the importance of deepening the relationship between the two sister countries, especially on border issues based on peace, security, trade, and transportation among others.
Vice President H.E. Muhammed B.S. Jallow acknowledged the importance of enhancing cooperation in the trade sector. He, along with ministerial delegations from The Gambia and Senegal, accompanied Prime Minister Sonko to the State House.
