President Barrow Presided Over Launching Of NIRO Ground Handling

His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, presided over the inauguration ceremony of Niro Ground Handling Company Ltd at Banjul International Airport in Yundum on Friday, February 23, 2024.
Niro Handling is a private ground handling and catering company offering comprehensive airport ground handling services and flight support services through authorized ground handlers.
Operating at Banjul International Airport, Niro provides ramp services, passenger handling services, and flight catering services. It is incorporated as an Aviation Ground Handling Services Provider under the Gambia Companies Act of 2013.
The event brought together cabinet ministers, international delegates, and stakeholders in the aviation industry.
Addressing the gathering, President Adama Borrow highlighted the significance of Niro’s presence at Banjul International Airport, emphasizing that it represents more than just business. He encouraged the youth to emulate Mr. Sulayman Cham and invest in similar ventures advocated by the government.
“Within the aviation industry here, NIRO Company Limited now stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through innovation and determination. We acknowledge, with joy, that this initiative has created openings for employment and will contribute to the economic prosperity of the nation,” he said
He emphasized that NIRO’s ascent signifies a commitment to growth and cooperation, highlighting the youth’s potential to instigate positive transformations and enhance the nation’s global standing.
“As we inaugurate this magnificent edifice, let us recognise the significance of NIRO Company Limited in influencing the future of our youths and the nation may it serve to inspire other young entrepreneurs to dream big, work hard, and contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of the country,” said Barrow.
The CEO of Niro Company Limited, Sulayman Cham, praised His Excellency President Adama Barrow for his steadfast support, demonstrated through the effective collaboration between the public and private sectors.
He also urged young, aspiring entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities for development in The Gambia and invest in the country’s growth.
“President Adama Barrow your leadership and support, exemplified through the collaboration between the public and private sector have been instrumental in making this investment a reality.
“Your belief in Gambian youths and in my vision through your government’s leadership is a shining example of true leadership, democracy, and hope for the economic development of our beloved country, The Gambia,” he said.
“He stated that the facility serves as a testament to the potential that emerges from collaboration between the public and private sectors under your exemplary leadership.
Speaking on behalf of the construction team, Mr. Abdullah Konateh provided an overview of the complex’s components. He underscored the significance of Gambian unity and the collective strength when Gambians join forces, highlighting the myriad opportunities and possibilities that can be realized through such collaboration.”
“This complex comprises of 1000 sqm RCC framed structure for the admin department, 800 sqm Portal Frame structure for the Technical department. Combined reinforce and mass concrete pavement area of 5200 sqm to serve as parking and storage for Ground Support Equipment and Unit Load Devices at the air side, Water Filtration unit,
2 security structures to be equipped with state of the art security equipment installations Mobile Fuel Station, Greenery space punctuated with variety of ornamental trees, Polymer coated chain-link mesh fence to the periphery,Integrated Building Services (IBS),” he highlighted.
The CEO of Asky Airline, Esayas Woldermariam Hailu, highlighted the relationship between Niro and Asky Airline.
“NIRO as a ground handling and catering aviation company provides the kind of service that is not in abundant supply on the continent. So Gambia is one of the lucky ones to have an authentic home grown aviation company owned, managed ,and run by an African.
“Mr Sulayman Cham, is a young entrepreneur, a job creator having his mission to contribute to the development of aviation.He is giving a profession service for catering and handling for Asky and Asky trusted him to give him more than one aviation service to be Created by him so this kind of initiative need to be supported and encouraged by the government and the society at large,” he said.
