President Barrow joins others to celebrate Mandela at UN GA
Ahead of the 73rd UN General Assembly session on Tuesday, President Adama Barrow as taken part in a UN High Level Nelson Mandela Plenary Summit on Global Peace.
The side event was held in honour of the centenary of the birth of Nelson Mandela.
The event is to celebrate Mandela’s life and his commitment to global peace.
Earlier on Monday, President Adama Barrow took part in the unveiling of a statue in Mandela’s honour at the UN headquarters in New York.
The event was being chaired by the UN SG, and his family, including Graca Machel.
President Barrow was expected to join the UN SG, Antonio Guterres, and the President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, to deliver a statement in honour Mandela.
