His Excellency President Adama Barrow has on Tuesday 3 January 2023, donated a tractor to the Gambia Armed Forces.
“HE the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Adama Barrow on Tuesday 3 January 2023 donated a tractor to 3 Infantry Battalion (Basse Camp). The tractor was handed over to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Lieutenant General Yakuba A Drammeh at a ceremony held at the State House in Banjul,” the Army confirmed on their Facebook page on Wednesday.
GAF said the president’s donation is a fulfillment of a promise he made to the Commanding Officer 3 Infantry Battalion;
“Donation was in fulfillment of a promise made by the Commander-in-Chief to the Commanding Officer 3 Infantry Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Sajor Jarjou during the presentation of bags of Nerica rice that were harvested by the Battalion during the President’s 2022 Meet the People’s Tour in Basse,” the army said.
“Accordingly, the CDS in a ceremony attended by the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff Major General Mamat O Cham, and Principal Officers from both the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) and Joint Services Headquarters (JHQ), formally handed over the tractor to the Commanding Officer 3 Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Sajor Jarju on Wednesday 4 January 2023”.
