The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has announced that Musa Jobarteh, the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) candidate for Gambisara Ward in the Basse Administrative Area, has withdrawn his candidature ahead of the Local Government elections.
“The Independent Electoral Commission wishes to inform the general public that Musa Jobarteh has withdrawn his candidature from the Councillorship Elections of 15th April 2023. The Returning Officer for Basse Administrative Area, Lamin Cham has duly accepted the withdrawal of Musa Jorbateh; People’s Progressive Party (PPP) candidate for Gambisara Ward in the Basse Administrative Area,” IEC chairman said.
Musa Jorbateh is the third candidate to withdraw from the elections within the last two weeks. The United Democratic Party’s candidates for Njau and Chamen wards have also withdrawn from the elections.
