A police prosecution team has on Monday requested time to prepare as litigation continues against 16 member of the Gambia Democratic Congress at the Basse Magistrate Court.
A national assembly member for GDC Alhagie Sowe and the newly elected councilor Ebrima Manneh and 14 others were arrested and charge to court over an allege assault.
Sowe and councilor Manneh were accused of assaulting one Dodou Sanneh of Koro Jula Kunda village in Jimara District.
The police prosecution team has sought an adjournment to have enough time to prepare the case.
Magistrate Omar Jabba adjourned the case to 18th and 19th June 2018 for continuation.
The GDC lawmaker, Sowe, said his prosecution is ‘politically motivated’. Sowe faces both incitement and assault charges.
Present in the court were Dr Demba Sabally GDC senior adviser and MC Cham, party’s youth leader.
