Police Investigate Tragic Deaths in Old Yundum

The Gambia Police Force has issued a press statement regarding their investigation into the tragic and mysterious deaths of a mother and her child in Sinchu Sorrie, Old Yundum, on Friday, June 28, 2024.
Identified as Majula Jabie, aged 40, and her daughter Fatoumatta Ceasay, aged 14, the victims were discovered deceased in their residence. No suspects have been named at this stage.
“Upon receiving a distress call, the Old Yundum CID Unit, along with the Criminal Records Office (CRO) and a team from the CID, was promptly dispatched to the scene. The bodies were discovered on their beds, and standard CSI protocols were observed before the bodies were moved to the EFSTH mortuary in Banjul. Evidence from the scene included a charcoal pot and a boiler with herbs and liquid, which the police collected for examination. The ongoing investigation will include postmortem examinations to determine the cause of death, and key family members are currently being questioned by the police,” the statement reads.
