The police have expressed concern over the recent attack on UDP members in Kanilai while urging people to calm down pending investigations.
“The Inspector General’s Office has received reports of an incident of attack on a United Democratic Party voter registration monitoring team at Kanilai in the morning hours of today Saturday 3rd July 2021.
“The public is hereby informed that, the scene of the incident has been visited and necessary documentation done. An investigation has been opened into the matter and appropriate actions will follow.

“We call on the public particularly residents of kanilai and surroundings to exercise maximum restraint and desist from further escalation of the situation,” the police said in a statement today.
The statement added that police are soliciting the cooperation and understanding of the public.
Earlier today a viral video showed members of the United Democratic Party voter registration monitoring team being attacked by some people in Kanilai following the team’s visit to the settlement.
However, the reason(s) for the said attack is yet to be formally abolished.
