Police arrest man suspected of destroying NAWEC’s pipes
A young man believed to be a Senegalese nationality is currently in police custody on suspicion of destroying pipes belonging to the National Water and Electricity Company.
The young man who was arrested on Tuesday has been taken to the Brikama Police Station.
His identity is yet to be revealed or charged by police. He was earlier shown on various Facebook live feeds being paraded with the destroyed pipes hanging over his shoulders.
On October 30, NAWEC has put out a communication revealing that its borehole kiosks and pump cables were being vandalized by unknown persons.
That was the second time the national energy company reported similar incident in less than 3 months.
