Police Arrest Man for Alleged Visa Fraud

The Gambia Police Force has announced the arrest of Yusuff Mendy in connection with alleged visa fraud.
In a statement issued on January 24, 2025, the police revealed that the West Coast Regional Task Force apprehended Mendy following a report filed on January 17, 2025. The suspect is accused of collecting D585,000 and 49 passports under the false pretense of securing UK visas.
“The West Coast Regional Task Force has arrested Yusuff Mendy for visa fraud reported on January 17, 2025. The suspect allegedly collected D585,000 and 49 passports under false pretenses, claiming to secure UK visas,” the police said.
A search of the suspect’s residence in Kololi reportedly led to the discovery of 49 passports belonging to individuals from The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, and Senegal. Additionally, police recovered D90,000 in cash.
“The suspect also named two accomplices from Brikama who remain at large. The public is urged to remain vigilant against scams and report suspicious activities to the police,” the statement added.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
