The Anti-Crime Unit of the Gambia Police Force on Saturday, April 13, 2024, took into custody twenty-one individuals of Nigerian nationality on charges of purportedly possessing communication devices illegally. According to a police statement, the operation was prompted by intelligence indicating suspicious activities within a residential apartment complex located in Sanchaba Sulay Jobe.
Following the arrest, law enforcement officials conducted a thorough search of the premises, uncovering an assortment of communication devices. Among the seized items were AFRICELL and QCELL GSM SIM cards, smartphones, iPhones, laptops, Rolex watches, routers, and a diamond tester.
“Their arrest was followed by a detailed search of the residence, resulting in the recovery of various communication gadgets, including AFRICELL and QCELL GSM SIM cards, smartphones, iPhones, laptops, Rolex watches, routers, and a diamond tester,” the police said.
The investigation into this incident is presently underway to ascertain the validity of the accusations and to determine appropriate charges.
