The National Assembly’s Public Enterprise Committee has accepted NAWEC’s activity report and financial statements for the year ending December 31, 2020, but with some reservations.

The adoption of the reports came after the committee had reviewed and scrutinized them to assess whether they fairly represented the state of affairs of NAWEC’s activities and financial transactions for the period under review.

Despite these reservations, the committee decided to adopt the reports. The chairman of the committee, Lamin J. Sanneh, told NAWEC that the committee had resolved to adopt the reports with reservations.

“One thing we are formally requesting from you is the issue of the salary structure before the reform and the salary structure after the reform. We are also requesting the report of the World Bank that informed the reform, and we are expecting the reports on Monday 16th October 2023,” he requested from the management of NAWEC.

The Chairman of the committee reminded NAWEC officials that the committee is responsible for monitoring public enterprises to ensure efficiency and transparency. He added that they have taken into consideration all the observations that were made by the committee.

“I assure you that going forward, you will not see this kind of audit report from us. Going forward, things will be much better,” he said.

NAWEC appeared before the committee yesterday for the presentation of their reports.
