The Ministry of Interior has announced that passengers traveling through Banjul International Airport will continue to pay security fees as previously stipulated. According to a press statement issued by the ministry, non-Gambian passport holders will pay $20 or its equivalent, while Gambian passport holders will pay D1000 per trip.

“The general public is hereby informed that while efforts are made to secure the fees in the passenger tickets; payment of security fees at the Banjul International Airport for both departing and arriving passengers are as follows, Gambian passport holders remain D1000. Non-Gambian passport holders will pay $20 or its equivalent,” the statement reads.

The ministry also reminded the public of the government’s 2019 agreement with Securiport LLC to establish a Civil Aviation and Immigration Security System (CAISS) at Banjul International Airport. Under this agreement, the security fee structure—$20 for non-Gambian passport holders and, D1000 for Gambian passport holders—was introduced to support the CAISS project.

The contract with Securiport LLC, the Ministry states, aims to strengthen security measures and enhance the overall safety of airport operations.

“While we appreciate the Public’s cooperation in implementing the CAISS project for enhanced security efficiency to continue, we assure of the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring seamless border operations and the security of all passengers,” the statement concludes.
