Ousman Sonko Asked Supporters To Stay Home Ahead Of Tomorrow’s Court Appearance

Senegalese Opposition leader, Ousman Sonko, who is accused of rape, has in a live video broadcast over Facebook appealed to his supporters to stay at home tomorrow. Mr. Sonko, is summoned to show up at the Tribunal handling his alleged rape case for questioning, and his supporters are gearing up to show up in large numbers to show support. To maintain what he calls “peace and tranquility”, he is asking them to stay at home while he and his lawyers attend to matters and answer any questions the tribunal may have for him.
The leader of opposition Pastef / Les patriotes will appear in front of the Dean of the examining magistrates (DJI), Maham Diallo, to answer questions relating to the allegation of rape leveled against him by masseuse Adji Sarr.
“I reassure everyone. Tomorrow I will go and answer quietly. I have never refused to respond to justice. I went to respond to the summons which dated March 3, 2021. This morning, my friend and brother Khalifa Sall reminded me that there is a fetishism among these people around the number 3,” Said Sonko via Seneweb.
The Pastef leader also assured his supporters that the issue at hand must be dealt with and he wants the questioning to take place as well, and that he has been looking forward to it.
“I must tell the Senegalese that there is nothing more normal, more ordinary than this convocation that we have wanted and wanted for a very long time. That we have demanded for a very long time. That it intervenes at this time when we had started a tour, it does not matter. We wanted this, since this file must be definitively dealt with. It is a completely empty and absurd file. It’s a plot hatched at the highest peak of the state, and we have all the proof. We wanted it because the country must breathe and move on.”
The Pastef leader’s scheduled appearance before the examining Magistrate tomorrow has put the country on edge due to the volatility of the matter and the rancor that has ensued since Adji Sarr made her allegation of rape against Ousman Sonko. The Pastef leader is trying to forestall any violence on the street during his appearance before the tribunal.
