Ousainou Bojang in Court

By Landing Ceesay

Ousainou Bojang, while presenting his defense in court, testified that a police officer named Lamin Cham accused him of being sent by the United Democratic Party (UDP) to kill Police Intervention Unit (PIU) officers near the Sukuta-Jabang Traffic Lights.

Bojang recounted a conversation with the officers, explaining, “They (Police Officers) asked how I fired a gun, and I told them I never held a gun in my hand and I don’t know how to use it because I am not a serviceman. But Sowe still did not believe me and I insisted that I don’t know how to use a gun. That was the time Lamin Cham said he knew me very well and that I was at Yankuba Darboe’s demonstration having push and pull with the PIU Officers there.
Bojang continued, “He said to me that we know that it is the UDP people who sent you to kill these people, but I must talk. I told him that I was not there, and I was not the one. They (Police Officers) took me to Anti Crime when we got there, and I was pushed inside the cell. Ebou Sowe told me that when they are done with me, I will talk,”

Ousainou Bojang is facing six charges, including the murder of PIU officers. His sister, Amie Bojang, is also on trial as an accessory after the fact.

Bojang’s testimony continues, and our reporter remains in the courtroom to bring you updates in subsequent publications.
