Lamin Lawo Baldeh, the National People’s Party (NPP) chairman for CRR South, has called on President Adama Barrow to fire NPP West Coast Region chairman Lamin Jatta. Baldeh accused Jatta of being divisive and of undermining the NPP.

“Lamin Jatta should unite with his people to be one. He should squash all the problems between him and them. Let him see the region, the country and the president. The problem on the West Coast is Lamin Jatta. Because right now, he is supporting Ahmad Gitteh, not Seedy Ceesay (the NPP Candidate). That is very clear to us. He was given sugar to distribute, but he refused to and kept them all to himself. That’s why NPP is having problems on the West Coast. In fact, right now there is a problem with him and his regional women mobilizer,” the NPP CRR South Chairman said.

He also said that Jatta had a history of conflict with his executive members and that he had disrespected the National Women Mobilizer. Baldeh said that if he were president, he would appoint an interim committee to run the West Coast Region NPP before the chairmanship elections.

“He is also not talking to some of his executive members. Let him stop being angry. Running your mouth doesn’t make you a man. Having problems with everyone means you are undermining the NPP. You are not working for NPP. I witnessed him call the National Women Mobilizer during a tour and said all sorts of things to her. He said the national women’s mobilizer doesn’t respect him. Let him come down and respect the president and the country and respect the people working for him. If I am the president, I will appoint an interim committee and remove Lamin Jatta because we are going for Chairmanship election. Let him sack Lamin Jatta,” he said.

The National People’s Party’s (NPP) Central River Region (CRR) chairman’s comments came after the National People’s Party (NPP) lost woefully in the West Coast Region in the just concluded councilors election.
