Hon. Kebba Jallow, the National Assembly member for Jarra Central under the NPP ticket, has firmly stated that the people of his constituency will not vote in the 2026 elections if the roads in Kabada, Jarra Central, are not constructed by then.

Jallow made this bold declaration during the adjournment debate at the National Assembly, addressing the lack of infrastructure development in his constituency, specifically roads and electricity.

He emphasized that he would be the second National Assembly member to make this declaration, stating, “In 2026, if the roads of Kabada in Jarra Central are not built, there will be no votes from the people of Kabada. No development, no vote.”

The MP lamented the prolonged neglect of the Kabada area, highlighting that the people of Kabada have never experienced significant infrastructure development.

“It is a pity this area called Kabada in Jarra Central has never given their back to a sitting president. Never and remember, Hon. Speaker, this area is the crown maker, and it was a pity when I asked that parliamentary question to the minister of works about my roads, the roads of Kabada. His response was, there were no funds; funds are finished, yes, but the people of Kabada are with their voter’s cards. Their voter’s cards are not finished; we are with our voter’s cards. This time around, we are not going to make it a negotiable thing. I think I will be the second National Assembly member who will also declare that in 2026, if the roads of Kabada and Jarra Central are not constructed, no vote,” he said.

Jallow also highlighted the pressing need for electricity in the area, noting that Kabada has been without electricity since the country’s independence.

“They brought electricity until it was very close to getting inside of Kabada, and they stopped it. They said we are supposed to wait for the second phase; we are waiting for the second phase to see whether our dream will come true,” he said.
