Never Again Network is An Apolitical Entity- Baba Galleh Jallow claps Back At Detractors
By Buba Gagigo
The former Executive Secretary of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC), Dr. Baba Galleh Jallow, says the newly formed Never Again Network is apolitical.
“What I want to do now is not political, what I want to do now is to help bring people together to continue the work that was stated by the TRRC to carry on the never again campaign,” he told Kerr Fatou’s weekly show the Brunch on Saturday.
Dr. Jallow posited that if he wanted to join politics at some point, he will resign from the Never Again Network and form his own political party;
“If at some point in time I want to join politics, I can resign from the Never Again Network and start my own political party. Why should I hide? I am not a criminal. I have not committed any crime and I have something to offer. Furthermore, I have something to offer this country. I can say that loud and clear” he said.
“We’ve had three presidents so far, at least I can offer as much as they can offer this country, so I have no need to hide behind networks and civil society organizations If I wanted to come out and be a politician.
“We came together before the TRRC ended back in 2021, and agreed that we should continue the Never Again campaign in this country. We thought it prudent for us to continue educating people about their history and human rights violations that occurred. How they happened, why they happened, and how can we prevent their reoccurrence. That is the basis, the rationale, for the transitional justice process. That’s what we are doing for now,” he concluded.
Dr. Baba Galleh Jallow is the former executive secretary of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) and is now the National Coordinator of the Never Again Network.
