The National Assembly of The Gambia is set to consider and approve a new nominee for the position of Clerk, as the current clerk, Momodou Sise, prepares for retirement.

Mr. Sise, who has served as Clerk for over five years, was appointed in March 2018 by the Fifth Legislature of the National Assembly, succeeding Dodou C.M. Kebbeh. Before assuming this role, Sise held positions as Senior Clerk and Deputy Clerk of Administration and Finance, a role he held for nearly a decade.

The Majority Leader of Parliament is expected to introduce the motion for the appointment of a new Clerk during the Assembly’s second extraordinary session of the year on Saturday, October 19, 2024. This session will address key national matters, including the approval of the memorandum of understanding on circular migration between The Gambia and the Kingdom of Spain, and the confirmation of the nominee for the Clerk position.
