NAM For Banjul North Nominated As President Of Global Youth Mental Health Forum

Hon. Modou Lamin Bah, National Assembly representative for Banjul North, has been nominated as the President of the Global Youth Mental Health Forum.
The Global Youth Mental Health Forum is an international platform established by the Peaceful Mind Foundation, headquartered in New Delhi, India. Launched in 2018 as a youth-centric initiative, its overarching mission is encapsulated in the motto “Better Mindscape for a better tomorrow.”
Hon. Bah conveyed his gratitude to the Global Youth Mental Health Forum for bestowing upon him this significant responsibility, stating,“I am thrilled to announce that I have been nominated by Global Youth Mental Health Forum under Peaceful Mind Foundation as President.
In a media statement, he emphasized the importance of mental health, describing it as integral to overall health, extending beyond the mere absence of mental illnesses.
“Mental health is an integral part of health. It is more than the absence of mental illnesses. It is the foundation for well-being and effective functioning of individuals. It includes mental well-being prevention of mental disorders, treatment and rehabilitation,” he elaborated.
The Peaceful Mind Foundation, established in India in 2016, is a global organization committed to raising awareness about mental health and well-being. The foundation, registered with the United Nations (U.N.) Global Compact, aims to empower communities to enhance self-awareness and advocate for psychological well-being at the grassroots level.
Hon. Bah took the opportunity to express his appreciation to Dr. Nabhit Kapur and the team for entrusting him with this significant role. Additionally, he extended his thanks to the constituents of Banjul North and beyond for the mandate to represent them in parliament, reaffirming his dedication to promoting awareness about youth and mental health in The Gambia and globally.
“I also thank the people of Banjul North Constituency and beyond for giving me the mandate to better represent them in parliament. I reaffirm my commitment to create more awareness on Youth and mental health in The Gambia and around the world,” he concluded.
