Member of Parliament, Honourable Fatou Cham has asked for a shift in focus on how to improve the quality of life of the people; most especially women and children.
“A World of 8 billion people presents both a challenge and an opportunity with implications on sustainability, urbanisation, access to health services, and women empowerment,” MP Cham said.
The theme of the event was: “A World of 8 billion: Towards a resilient future for all-Harnessing opportunities and ensuring rights and choices for all”.
The member for Sanneh Mentereng Constituency on Tuesday made the remarks in her statement at the commemorate of the World Population Day 2022 in Brikama; while representing the National Assembly Select Committee on Gender, Children and Social Welfare.
