Momodou Sabally Appeals IEC’s Decision Against Him
By Buba Gagigo
Momodou Sabally whose nomination was rejected by the independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has appealed the commission’s rejection of his nomination according to a source close to him.
“He (Sabally) submitted his letter on Friday to the Director of Records at the IEC and his staff, protesting the rejection of his nomination by the Election House,” the source told this reporter.
The appeal came, after Commissioner Anthony Robert Secka, Returning Officer for the West Coast Region for the 2022 Parliamentary Election informed Mr Sabally that Section 90 (1)(e) of the 1997 Constitution has disqualified him from running in the 9th April election, following a long scrutiny of his papers at the nomination desk by IEC officials on Thursday.
