Hon. Seyaka Sonko, Minister of Interior
The Honourable Minister of Interior, Seyaka Sonko, Permanent Secretary, Assan Tangara and the entire staff of the ministry, are saddened by the tragic shooting incident at the Sukuta-Jabang Highway on Tuesday, 12th September 2023, which claimed the lives of two police officers, PC PatehJallow and PC Sang J Gomez and left one police officer, WPC Ancy Jawo hospitalized in critical condition.
The Ministry of Interior, sincerely extends deepest condolence to the families of the two late police officers and the entire Gambian Police Force. On the other hand, the Ministry prays for the swift recovery of WPC Jawo.
The ministry by its mandate assures the public that The Gambia Police Force in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders are relentlessly working together to investigate this inhuman incident and bring the perpetrator to justice.
The ministry calls on the general public to continue to support The Gambia Police Force and other sister security institutions in the execution of their highly important mandate of maintaining peace and stability for accelerated socioeconomic development in the Gambia.
In conclusion, the ministry wishes to applaud the office of the IGP and the entire security forces for their swift response to this unfortunate incident.
