Claudina Cole, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, has issued a stern warning to young people in the Gambia against the use of drugs associated with the name “Gina Bass.”

Addressing the issue, she emphasized the importance of dissociating Gina Bass from such negative substances, highlighting Bass’s pursuit of success and positive endeavors.

“The new menace, the new phenomenal, I don’t even want to call its name. And the name that they have associated it with is even more disgusting. Because that young lady is a person who is out for success, not failure. Gina Bass should be associated with success. She should be associated with positive things, not the one they have associated her name with.”

Minister Cole urged for a disclaimer from Bass herself. Expressing concern over the detrimental effects of these drugs on society, including death, depression, and lawlessness, Minister Cole stressed the need for young people to prioritize their well-being and strive for success.

“I think she needs to do a disclaimer. I want to believe she will have to do a disclaimer. People should stop associating her name with that negative thing that is causing death, is causing depression, is causing lawlessness, is causing everything that is negative to our well-being. So young people it’s nothing you should even be thinking of. My Dear Students, I want to see all of you succeed,” the minister said.

These remarks were made by Minister Claudina Cole during an event at a local hotel in Senegambia, where Trust Bank honored The Gambia’s most outstanding students in the grade 9 examination.
