Man arrested for allegedly setting ablaze Bakoteh dumpsite

The Commissioner of Kanifing Municipal Police, Malamin Ceesay says on Saturday, they have arrested one Ablie Drammeh for allegedly setting fire on Bakoteh dumpside.
“On Saturday around 5:30pm, a suspect was cited within Bakoteh area. He went to a certain point and sat down, took a match and lit the area; when actually we were focusing on the other side where the smoke was. Then after for a while, the fire sparked and [the] suspect ran away,” Commissioner Ceesay remarks at a press conference earlier today.
He added that the police including himself chased the suspect, and apprehended him with the help of the public.
The suspect identified as one Ablie Drammeh, is a resident of Dipakunda, about 21 to 22 years who claimed to be sent by a group of people, according to the KMC police chief.
Ceesay confirms the suspect is currently under police custody helping them in their investigation.
Reacting to the incident, the Mayor of Kanifing Municipality Talib Bensouda describes the incident as “arson attack.”
