Mai Fatty Promises To Challenge IEC’s Decision
By Buba Gagigo
The Secretary General and Leader of The Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) has promised to challenge a ‘wrongful decision’ against him by the IEC.
“I am disappointed that the IEC claimed that the reason for not accepting my nomination was because we did not have the required number of 200 voters’ nominations from Banjul. This is inaccurate. The process is not yet over. I will file an immediate appeal against this wrongful decision. I am convinced that the improper decision would be reversed.
I call on all GMC and other supporters to remain calm as we tackle this issue before midnight. Our Faith is being tested, and we cannot fail. Stay strong. Watch here for updates,” Mai Ahmed Fatty reacted on Facebook.
Mai Ahmed Fatty under the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) ticket and 14 other aspirants have been earlier today rejected by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).
The reason for their rejection according to the commission is based on the failure of the aspirants to comply with section 42 of the Elections Act 2009.
