Seedy Lamin Bah, the Governor of Lower River Region (LRR), has said that he is open to working with the newly sworn-in Mansakonko Area Council Chairman, Landing B. Sanneh.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony on Monday, Governor Bah said that the people of the region need development, but that it cannot be achieved without working together.
“Our people are yearning for a lot of things, but I also must say the Area Council cannot do it all. You have to work with people and me standing here as your governor, my doors are open. You will be able to work with me in harmony, in peace, and in the development of our people. Let’s remember LRR belongs to all of us, and it will be for all of us. It is also unique in the sense that it is in the heart of this country. So, I indulge upon you to look at the people and look at their pride,” the governor said.
He also called on the people of the Lower River Region to put their political affiliation aside and see the Gambia and their region.
“The office of the governor will be ready to work with you on any sector. But we must also understand that our people need Development. Development in all sectors is what they are asking for. Therefore, we must strive and put our political affiliation aside. I have also opened my doors to anybody who feels like I can be able to support you in terms of the local governance structure. We are leaders, and we are your own children, we are your own brothers and sisters. Why can’t we work together? Politics has gone and it has gone. Let’s open a new cycle, let’s see the Gambia, let’s see LRR,” he concluded.
Seedy Lamin Bah is the Governor of Lower River Region (LRR) and a strong supporter of the president’s National People’s Party (NPP) while the chairman of Mansakonko Area Council is a strong supporter of the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP).
