Former Attorney General And Minister of Justice, Mama Fatima Singhateh has accused Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay (FJC) of telling lies over the ex-parliamentary speaker’s allegation that former president Yahya Jammeh has assets in The Gambia controlled by Singhateh’s mother.
In a leaked audio which has gone viral on the social media, FJC claimed Singhateh’s mother was collecting rent for those assets she said belong to Jammeh.
But in reaction, Singhateh, currently the UN Special Rapporteur on the sale and sexual exploitation of children, took to Twitter to respond to FJC’s allegation, describing it as ‘lies’ and questioning FJC’s credibility.
“For the record and for the benefit of any person/ media outlet who is interested in the truth, I have NEVER and DO NOT manage any property belonging to HE the former president and for FJC to not only stoop so low as to tell a lie against me but also mention my mother’s name in that lie is beyond my comprehension. I will advise myself on my legal options”, Ms. Singhateh tweeted.
Both FJC and Ms. Singhateh worked under Jammeh.
