The police have granted the leaders of ‘3 Years Jotna’ protest D100, 000 bail bond each, their Lawyer Lamin S. Camera, confirmed to Kerr Fatou.

Similarly, the previous charges against them have also been resuscitated.

“Charges preferred on them includes: unlawful assembly, riotous demolishing of buildings and rioting after proclamation, contrary to section 69, 76 and 74 of the criminal code laws of the Gambia,” the police spokesperson told this medium.

Earlier today, Abdoulie Njie, Ebrima Kitim Jarju, Sheriffo Sonko, Hagi Suwaneh, Fanta Mballow, Karim Touray, Yankuba Darboe, Bakary Camara and Muctarr Ceesay, have been rearrested by the police; following their discharge by court, after the state filed a nolle prosequi.

Lawyer Camara described the move as “very sad”.

Until their discharged today, the accused persons have been on trial on charges relative to their January 2020 protest, against President Barrow choosing to serve the constitutional five-year mandate, instead of the 3 years campaign promise.
