KMC Introduces Banking System For Paying Tax

The Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) introduced a banking system of paying taxes for the residents of the Municipality.
“You don’t need to go all the way to Kanifing to pay your compound rates or trade licences. You can now walk into any GTBank, Agibank or Mega bank in KM to pay your compound rates and your trade licence.
“No need to come with any national documents, just come with your compound rate, demand note or trade licence invoice and your payment will be registered immediately on the KMC finance system and you’ll be given a receipt. This system is designed as part of the council’s efforts to mitigate challenges in collection of revenue as well as for better and easier service delivery in the Kanifing Municipality,” the Council said in a statement on Thursday.
The council further thanked the residents of the municipality for their continuous cooperation in paying taxes.
“We all need to pay our taxes for the development of the Municipality. KMC are making it easier to do your duty – we are making it easier, faster and more convenient to pay your taxes,” the statement added.
With this, residents do not need to travel or walk to the KMC to pay their compound rates or other council charges but to the designated banks and their payment would be registered immediately on the KMC finance system. In return, they would be issued a receipt as proof of their payment.
