KMC Deputy CEO Kajally Janneh Demoted To Principal Administrative Officer And Sent To Janjangbureh

Kajali Janneh, who was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), has been demoted to the position of Principal Administrative Officer at the Janjangbureh Area Council.

Kajali’s demotion follows his refusal to hand over the CEO role to Sainabou Martin Sonko. The government had forcefully returned Sonko to the Kanifing Municipal Council, where she had a falling out with the council over her alleged use of a council letterhead to guarantee a loan to purchase property for the staff association without the permission of the council.

According to a letter seen by this medium, the decision to demote Kajali to Principal Administrative Officer and reassign him to Janjangbureh Area Council was reached by the Local Government Service Commission at their recent meeting held on Friday 26th May 2023.

The letter states that the following points were discussed and agreed upon during the meeting:

“1. As a disciplinary measure, you are demoted from your position of Deputy

Chief Executive Officer to the position of Principal Administrative Officer

on Grade 10 and posted to Janjantureh Area Council with immediate effect.

“2. Further, you are required to prepare a comprehensive handing over notes

and hand over to the Chief Executive Officer by Friday 2 June 2023 

“3. You are to report to your new Council of posting not later than Monday 5 June 2023.
